Russian prime minister (and presidential hopeful) Vladimir Putin, not exactly the biggest fan of press freedoms or the Internet, has his second blog post up on the Huffington Post today, joining world leaders like French president Nicolas Sarkozy and British prime minister David Cameron in Arianna Huffington’s roster of famous contributors. Dylan Byers of Politico wonders if Syrian president Bashar al-Assad or Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad might be given the same privilege, to which a HuffPo spokesperson said diplomatically, “Each request would be evaluated individually.” Being that both of Putin’s writings were adapted from his previous Russian editorials, it’s probably safe to presume that he’s just like most HuffPo bloggers in at least one sense: He’s not getting paid.
