LIRR Riders Will No Longer Be Able to Drink on the Train in the Middle of the Night

The railroad has announced a ban on alcoholic beverages between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. on weekend trains. The idea is to cut down on fun and — more importantly — attacks on LIRR employees, two of whom were assaulted by drunk people last month. [NYP]
