The Real Reason the Economy Isn’t Recovering

More than 80 days ago, a hacker targeted the U.S. government’s Commerce Department with an e-mail virus. In order to contain the damage,  the cyber-security team in charge decided to shut off the network entirely in the affected department, the Economic Development Administration. Since then, there’s been no e-mail in or out of the office — they’ve just been using faxes and postal mail. “We don’t yet have any deeper understanding of what happened,” Commerce Secretary John Bryson told the Washington Post.  “But we have the best resources in the federal government looking into this.” Nearly three months later, the best resources in the federal government have come up with … bupkes. Good thing no one is interested in economic development right now!
