On Morning Joe today, our own John Heilemann discussed a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showing President Obama and Mitt Romney in a statistical tie. The poll also shows 48 percent of Americans polled don’t know or don’t care about Mitt Romney’s past business experience, particularly his career at Bain Capital, a private equity firm scrutinized for outsourcing American jobs. “The Bain attacks are not for the Beltway crowd, they’re not for New York, they’re for the swing states, they’re for swing voters,” Heilemann said. “This poll will make people in Chicago say ‘We were right, [those who] criticized us were wrong, we’re going to keep hitting him hard on this issue.”
