Alec Baldwin Quits Twitter (Again) After Wedding Weekend [Updated]

Alec Baldwin got married on Saturday without attacking anyone (although he did the day before), but that low-key glow didn’t last long. After a taxi ride from their honeymoon suite back to their apartment, the actor and his new yoga-teacher wife Hilaria Thomas spent a simple Sunday walking around Washington Square Park and watching Spain win the Euro Cup. The couple tweeted photos of their wedding rings, and Hilaria even changed her Twitter handle to @HilariaBaldwin. But this morning, Daily Intel’s favorite grouch must’ve felt his personal ocean was too placid and got back to making waves: “It’s been fun,” he tweeted, and just like that, his account was gone. Again. (Or is it?)

After some time down completely, Baldwin’s Twitter page reappeared for a moment cleared of content. He ditched his beloved micro-blogging platform once before, following the great Words With Friends tragedy of 2011, but couldn’t stay away long — soon he was right back to insulting an endless parade of @-replying nobodies. Could he just be going private — for friends and @HilariaBaldwin only? Or is it for good this time? Probably not, judging by his recent affinity for alternately blaming the celebrity press for everything and then basking in its spotlight.

Speaking of, the new husband is on the cover of Vanity Fair this week, speaking inside the only way he knows how. Baldwin fantasized about beating his ex-wife’s lawyer “with a baseball bat,” he tells the magazine, but leaves the especially detailed homicidal daydreams for TMZ’s Harvey Levin, who posted the infamous voice-mail recording of the 30 Rock star berating his young daughter. “I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him, and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes,” Baldwin explains.

But he’s over it now. “You have to let that go,” Baldwin insists. “Enough time — I mean, it does heal wounds.” We’ll keep that in mind, Alec, but you can’t keep toying with us like this forever.

Update: Well, that was fast. As of Monday afternoon, the account is back. Sort of! It’s now called @ABFalecbaldwin, for the “Alec Baldwin Foundation,” and includes news of a $1 million donation made by the newlyweds to the New York Philharmonic, in honor of outgoing director Zarin Mehta. We just can’t stay mad at this guy.
