Not the delicious Nestle Drumstick ice cream cones that would make the laughable expenditure at least a bit understandable, but $20,000 on drumming drumsticks. The General Services Administration, the federal agency now infamous for its $800,000-plus blowout conference in October 2010 in Las Vegas, is conducting a “rigorous top-to-bottom review of all agency operations,” which found that its members also spent a whopping $268,732 for a one-day performance awards ceremony for its employees on Nov, 17, 2010, ABC News reports. According to a CNN source, the GSA hired a band for that event and bought the $20,000 worth of drumsticks for 4,000 attendees “to play along with the band and make the activity interactive.” In the GSA’s defense, group drumming was a much more stimulating activity choice than other ideas, which included having guests make Play-Doh models of their favorite animals, and finger painting.
