An East Harlem man who confessed to the 2010 killing of 28-year-old Betty Williams received a sentence on Tuesday of twenty years in prison, the Associated Press reports. Fifty-seven-year-old Hassan Malik pleaded guilty to manslaughter, telling police that he choked Williams during a dispute while she was staying at his place. After she died, Malik stuffed her body into a suitcase and left it on 114th Street. “I’m sorry,” said Malik, who cried as the Manhattan judge issued the sentence. “I apologize to the family of Betty Williams, for what happened.”
