NYPD Installed at All of New York’s Dark Knight Rises Screenings

Fearing a repeat of yesterday’s Dark Knight Rises shooting in Colorado, which left twelve people dead, the NYPD dispatched officers to the 40 New York movie theaters showing the film. “We are doing that to address the potential of a copycat event,” Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told the New York Post, “and to reassure moviegoers, particularly parents — a lot of young people are going to see this movie.” When asked if he’d considered installing metal detectors as well, Kelly said, “I don’t think we’re there yet.”
