Thanks to the actions of security guard Leo Johnson, Floyd Corkins — the 28-year-old who walked into the D.C. headquarters of the Family Research Council armed with a semiautomatic gun on Wednesday — was prevented from carrying out his violent attack on the conservative organization. And it now seems that his plan may not have ended with the FRC: Andrea Lafferty, the president of the Traditional Values Coalition, says the FBI informed her that Corkins was carrying contact information for her Christian lobbying group when he was arrested. She has since sought Justice Department protection but, after getting no response, told the AP that “Christians are a very low priority on their lists of concerns.” While no motive has officially been established, the clearest connection between the two organizations (and the 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches found in Corkins’s backpack) is their staunch opposition to same-sex marriage.
