NYPD Held Prohibition-Era Reenactment in Brooklyn

But sadly it didn’t involve ladies in flapper dresses or amusingly named criminals. Bar owner David Kelleran has filed a lawsuit alleging that in 2011 the NYPD burst into his bar Coco66 and dumped all of his liquor down the drain, before realizing that they were at the wrong bar. Kelleran said one of his checks to the State Liquor Authority did bounce, but it was for his other bar 68, which was across the street. His lawyer tells the New York Post that either way, “There is no provision in New York’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Law … that allows for the wholesale destruction of private property, without notice,’’ adding, “The utter and complete lawlessness exhibited by the NYPD in this case shocks the conscience.”
