SPRINGFIELD, VA - FEBRUARY 28: Republican Presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) speaks to supporters during a primary night party February 28, 2012 in Springfield, Virginia. According to early exit polls, Mitt Romney has a very slim lead over Rick Santorum in Michigan’s primary, with Romney projected to win the Arizona primary. Unlike fellow non-presidential nominees Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, Ron Paul’s primary campaign did not leave him totally broke. Just the opposite, in fact! The Texas congressman and fringey favorite still has $2.5 million in the bank, and he’ll be spending it on a big Tampa rally scheduled to coincide with the Republican National Convention. The event — set to take place in the 11,000-seat University of South Florida Sun Dome — is intended to amp up supporters for “the fight to seat as many of our delegates as possible” at the convention, because there’s nothing the Paul people love more than waging a loud losing battle.
