Seventeen-year-old Austin Wierschke of Wisconsin defended his fastest text-messager title in Times Square on Wednesday, attributing his speed and success to his cool under pressure and abnormally fast thumbs. Wierschke is going to save the $50,000 prize money for college, where he can spend every class surreptitiously shooting messages to friends from under his desk.
