A Massachusetts woman sent her 24-year-old son to the vet with her eight-year-old cat Lady, but when the son got there he somehow signed papers to have Lady put down after he was “handed the wrong forms,” he told the AP. “I don’t think there was any malicious intent, but I do think it was negligent,” Lady’s distraught owner said. “I’m sure there are standards of practice they have to follow.” She’s filed a complaint with the state attorney general’s office in the hope that no other families will be subjected to the world’s saddest clerical error.
