The superintendent of the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island announced on Tuesday that Lady Liberty’s interior will reopen to visitors on October 28, the statue’s 126th birthday, the AP reports. Lady Liberty’s crown, pedestal, and museum were closed to visitors this past year as workers undertook a $27 million renovation project to repair electrical equipment and safety mechanisms within the statue. The tired and poor masses will now enjoy a richer, safer experience.
