Cory Booker confirmed to the Associated Press on Thursday that he’ll be living on food stamps from “December 4 to 11. Seven days.” — which is something the Twitter user he challenged nearly two weeks ago would have liked to hear from the Newark mayor himself. The North Carolina woman, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because she’s received threats, said she’s upset that Booker didn’t consult her before picking the dates for their challenge. Booker did send her a tweet saying his staff would be in touch, but she hasn’t heard from them. “I don’t think it’s fair to be challenged and just find out from the Internet when I’m supposed to take part,” she said. “I would have appreciated the consideration that I have a life as well.” In Booker’s defense, he’s lost touch with people who don’t spend all their free time on Twitter. In his world two tweets that mention “I start on Dec 4” are ample warning that you’ll soon be living on $1.40 per meal.
