Video: Downtown Businesses Operating on Flashlight Power Post-Hurricane Sandy

In the days after Hurricane Sandy, downtown residents and businesses remain without most or all utilities at least through this weekend. The vast majority of businesses were not able to open without power, but a small handful have decided to push through the darkness and stay in business, lighting the way for customers with flashlights and candles, and — for a few more hours — daylight. At OMG in Soho, a flock of tourists — some stuck in the city longer than expected — hunted for blue jeans with the help of employees holding pocket flashlights. Bicycle Habitat in Nolita was packed with cyclists in need of a quick repair on a flat tire or snapped chain, which were fixed under the light of a cell phone. See our video for more:
