Of all the things on which to inappropriately spend public money, “dozens of visits to McDonald’s” would be right at the bottom of our list. But that was the treat of choice for Kappry Vera, a secretary at the Urban Assembly School for Construction and Design in Hell’s Kitchen, who city officials say spent $3,000 on personal expenses from August 2009 through May 2011, including “$765 on dozens of visits to McDonald’s between October 2009 and May 2011, charging the city for purchases there up to four times each day.” As long as you’re not spending your own money, why not shoot for, well, almost anything else? Especially since the McDonald’s closest to Urban Assembly is, according to Yelp, possibly the worst in the city.
