The Republican Party, which is increasingly becoming a party composed almost entirely of old white Southern people, will soon boast the only African-American senator in the entire country: According to various reports, South Carolina governor Nikki Haley will announce at noon today her very unsurprising decision to appoint one-term congressman Tim Scott to the Senate seat of the retiring Jim DeMint. Diversity problem: Solved.
