When Ann Curry relieved her duties at the Today Show this summer, many cited her lack of onscreen chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer as the main reason NBC decided to move her to her current role as a news correspondent. However, according to the New York Post, the network doesn’t trust her to chat entertainingly with anyone on live television. A source told the paper that “there’s growing friction because she’s been pushing for live interviews, but NBC will only air her taped interviews, presumably so they can edit them.” The story certainly compliments the Post’s claim that a frustrated Curry is looking for a job at CNN, where former boss and longtime fan Jeff Zucker is now in charge. A NBC spokesperson dismissed all this as “gossip” and “nonsense” while pointing out that Curry signed a multi-year contract with the network. Perhaps she could offer to return that $10 million in exchange for freedom?
