As expected, a judge has ruled that there’s enough evidence to try James Holmes for killing 12 people and injuring 70 others in the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting. An arraignment was set for Friday morning, but earlier on Thursday lawyers for Holmes requested a continuance, saying Holmes isn’t ready to enter a plea. The defense mentioned that Holmes is mentally ill several times during this week’s preliminary hearing, suggesting that they plan to pursue an insanity defense. Once Holmes is arraigned, prosecutors will have 63 days to announce whether they’ll seek the death penalty.
