Manti Te’o Reportedly Got a New, Real Girlfriend About Two Months After Fake Girlfriend Died of Cancer

According to TMZ, Manti Te’o met a real human woman — a 21-year-old college student from nearby St. Mary’s College — on the weekend of November 10, and the two dated for nearly two months before recently breaking up.

To put this in the context of the rest of the strange, confusing timeline: Te’o’s fake girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, died of fake leukemia sometime between September 11 and September 15 (news reports vary). Te’o claims that it wasn’t until December that he discovered Kekua had never existed. Which means it only took him about two months after what he believed to be the actual, tragic death of his girlfriend to start dating again. That seems like kind of a quick rebound, although we’re not totally clear on the protocol for mourning a girlfriend you never met.
