The Obamas Didn’t Do Much Partying at the Inaugural Balls

Four years ago, the Obamas left their last inaugural ball at 12:45 a.m., and then headed back to the White House to party with friends, but this year they called it an early night. The president introduced “my dance partner, Michelle Obama,” and her second Jason Wu inaugural gown around 9 p.m. at the Commander in Chief’s Ball; then the first couple made appearances on both floors of the larger Inaugural Ball. They seemed to be having fun, but after sharing three dances as Jennifer Hudson belted out “Let’s Stay Together,” they made a swift exit. According to the Washington Post’s live blog, by 10:27 p.m. their motorcade was headed back to the White House. After all, they’ve done this before, and their Netflix queue is packed.
