On Thursday, almost exactly six months after James Holmes burst into the Century Aurora 16 theater and started shooting, the theater is set to reopen for business. But the operators wanted survivors, families, and first-responders to have the first look in a preview Tuesday and Wednesday. Some even sat in the same seats. But others boycotted the reopening and those who came weren’t exactly thrilled at the reunion. “It just brought the memories back,” 18-year-old Alejandra Cardona-Lamas, who was in the theater that night, told the Denver Post. One teen visited to commemorate her 6-year-old sister, the youngest victim of the shooting. “I wanted to see it again, because I feel like when I’m there, there’s a part of her there too,” she told the local NBC affiliate. Century has renamed the auditorium Theater H from Theater 9, and renovated it into an “extreme digital” theater with new seats, carpet, and a wall-sized screen. “Everyone knows that this ‘extreme digital’ theater with the letter ‘H’ is really Theater 9,” Cardona-Lamas told the Post. “Name it whatever they want, it’ll always be Theater 9, where people went to the movies and didn’t walk out.”
