Big Weekend for Thievery at Bronx Cemetery

Who knew there was $160,000 worth of anything to steal from a cemetery? But that was the value the New York Post put to the bronze stolen from St. Raymond, in the Bronx, in just one weekend: “The thief or thieves cut off door handles and even stole name plates and vents from 65 mausoleums at St. Raymond Cemetery in Throgs Neck between Friday and yesterday, when the thefts were discovered, the sources said.” One source told the paper the cemetery’s security guards “were asleep at the wheel.” It’s unclear if they meant it literally or figuratively.
