In an effort to show that there’s support for gay marriage from both political parties, The Respect for Marriage Coalition is rolling out a $1 million campaign that features Laura Bush, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, and President Obama. Politico reports that print ads will run in several major newspapers, and TV spots will air on cable channels and Sunday talk shows. It’s unclear if the Republicans agreed to be featured in the commercial, since their comments are pulled from media appearances. In the past, journalists have complained about their surprise cameos in political ads, so we might hear objections from the Bush administration alumni, though their support for gay marriage is well known.
