Cory Booker has formed a campaign committee, filed the appropriate election papers, and even told CBS’s Face the Nation today that he’s “clearly” interested in taking over New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg’s soon-to-be-vacated seat, though he went on to say that he’s currently focused on “one election in New Jersey, which is our statewide gubernatorial and legislative elections.” However, by next month, it seems that he’ll be devoting a decent amount of attention to his own 2014 race. BuzzFeed reports that Booker will travel down to Palm Beach, Florida for a swanky $5,200-a-person fund-raiser at the home of major commercial property owner Robert Baker. Booker’s website removed the fund-raiser notice after BuzzFeed posted about it, but the site did speak to the Bakers, who confirmed that they are holding a 26-person donor gathering. At $125,000-per-guest, it isn’t a bad start.
