An Interview With a Guy Dressed As a Transformer at CPAC

Photo: Dan Amira

A booth at CPAC for the book How Money Walks, which “explores the hows, whys, and impact” of the transfer of wealth between states over the past two decades, is using a guy in a transformer costume to attract attention. (The banner reads “Transform Your State.”) We spoke to the man inside, whose name is Paul.

Are you very uncomfortable right now or are you okay?
It’s, uh … slightly bearable.

Is it very hot?
Yes.

How long will you be in there?
Eight hours.

Do you get bathroom breaks?
Yeah. They’ll take care of me.

If this costume were a real weapon, do you think the Second Amendment would give you the right to own it?
Yes.

No restrictions on the Second Amendment? You can have a Transformer?
Well, no. Not something like that.
