While the Dow closed at an all-time high on Tuesday, Rachel Maddow noted that that success isn’t being shared among all Americans. Frank Rich said U.S. policy led to that predicament. “We have a government — both parties I might add — that sort of stack toward corporate welfare, breaks for corporations,” said Rich. He added that while Washington could pursue policies that would correct the problem, it’s unlikely. “This dysfunction in Washington is such a sideshow,” said Rich. “Its almost like a ‘bread and circuses’ to distract people from actually discussing and debating policies that really neither party wants to put on the table because essentially they have the same corporate backers.”
