Here Is John Kerry Speaking Norwegian for Two Seconds

Apparently John Kerry has lived everywhere and knows at least a little bit of every language. “It’s also so good for us in Norway to have a Secretary of State who actually lived in Norway,” Norway’s minister of foreign affairs remarked today during a brief press conference with Kerry, “and who can even speak quite impressively some Norwegian phrases which he tried out on us, and we were quite impressed by his memory of that.”

Asked by a reporter to demonstrate some of his linguistic skills, however, all Kerry could muster is, “Takk for det. Tusen takk,” which means, “Thank you for that. A thousand thanks.”

Later, Kerry added, “The phrase that I learned best of all was Jeg snakker ikke norsk, which means, ‘I don’t speak Norwegian.’”
