Reuters reports that Obama plans to nominate Sylvia Mathews Burwell for director of the White House Office of Management and Budget on Monday. Burwell served in the Clinton administration as Treasury secretary Robert Rubin’s chief-of-staff and, later, as deputy director of the OMB, but her current gig is at Walmart, where she heads the company’s philanthropic foundation. Over the last couple years, she’s overseen the donation of over $1 billion to projects aimed at fighting hunger and aiding women, but our guess is that she’ll be bringing Walmart’s better-known penny-pinching strategies to her new role.
