Passaic Lottery Winner’s Persistence Pays Off

Passaic resident Pedro Quezada beat 175 million-to-1 odds to become the sole winner of the $338.3 million Powerball jackpot on Saturday. Despite owning a bodega in the area, the 44-year-old never applied for a lottery license and instead visits Eagle Liquors in Passaic every night around 8 p.m. for “Lotto tickets and two or three bottles of [Corona] beer.” The father of five is “giving thanks to God,” especially since public records show he has about ten liens totaling more than $25,000, according to the New York Post.
