The big, green, freedom-signifying Hurricane Sandy victim will reopen to the public on Independence Day for the first time since the storm. Before that, the Statue of Liberty’s interior, which had been closed more than a year for renovations, was scheduled to welcome visitors again on her 126th birthday, October 28, a.k.a. the day before the storm hit. So it’s been a while.
