Anti-Weed Assemblyman Takes a Plea Deal on Possession Charge

Steve Katz, the anti-weed Republican state assemblyman from Westchester who was charged with marijuana possession last month, won’t be doing any jail time for the crime. As part of a plea deal announced Thursday, he has to get through twenty hours of community service and stay out of trouble, and the charge will disappear. Since he didn’t show up to the hearing Thursday it’s impossible to know if his views on pot have changed since he voted against a medical marijuana bill last year.
