the future is now

Manhattan Still Has All the Underground Cell Service

Subway stops equipped with Wi-Fi and cellular service now range from 14th Street to 96th Street, for a total of 36 stations, all in “the city,” as the Manhattan-centric call it. Queens and midtown east are next, with plans for the whole system to be wired by 2017, but for now riders in the outer boroughs will be forced to look at one another or read books, by which we mean play iPhone games that don’t require service.
