New MTA Chief Just Really Loves Public Transit

Thomas Prendergast, who has served as interim chief since Joe Lhota left to run for mayor, was picked as full-time chairman and chief executive today by Governor Cuomo. Prendergast got his transit start all the way back in 1975, with the Chicago Transit Authority, and has since worked for the U.S. Department of Transit, the NYC Transit Authority, the Long Island Rail Road, Vancouver’s TransLink, and the MTA, so he probably knows what he’s doing.
