When IAC chairman Barry Diller mentioned last month that he regretted he’d ever bought Newsweek, it seemed pretty clear the now-digital magazine’s days were numbered. And they may still be, but according to Variety, Diller and IAC are “sending out inquiries to prospective buyers” of the magazine, which last sold for $1 and the assumption of liabilities. But seeing as how Newsweek’s subscribers went from $1.5 million at the end of last year to 470,000 at the beginning of this year, per Variety, those liabilities look pretty daunting.
