The latest in an ever-growing string of stupid New York City criminals posting their spoils on social media is the Bronx’s “6 Wild” gang, whose 58-count indictment on just about every scary charge (conspiracy to commit attempted murder, robbery, assault, narcotics and weapons possession and sales, robbery, burglary, assault, menacing, strangulation, and drug possession) includes evidence from Facebook and YouTube. The crew allegedly robbed cocaine and heroin dealers after using young women as spies and then, in case there was any doubt, literally spelled out their affiliations in public.
From the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s announcement today:
During the investigation, Special Narcotics prosecutors and analysts, and members ofthe NYPD, reviewed of hundreds of Facebook photographs and messages obtainedthrough court authorized search warrants. Scores of photos the defendants posted on the site show large quantities of cash. In some photos, 6 Wild members posing withmoney, while others show shoeboxes or suitcases stuffed with cash, stolen jewelry andwatches. Often photos of cash were posted on the same day as robberies or soon after.
