EMT Won’t Face Charges for Not Helping Woman Who Died

Melisa Jackson, the Brooklyn EMT who was arrested for misconduct after she didn’t stick around to help a pregnant woman who had a fatal asthma attack in a cafe where Jackson was taking a coffee break, won’t be charged with anything after all. The decision came from Abdo Nahmod, the chief of the department, who decided that off-duty emergency workers who aren’t assigned to an ambulance or special event don’t have to offer aid.
