Republican mayoral candidate and former MTA chief Joe Lhota was recently — oh my gosh, what a humbling coincidence — caught by Bloomberg News buying $17.99 non-iron dress shirts from Costco, forgoing the Brooks Brothers “uniform” of his old boss Rudy Giuliani, who once said his $88 duds helped “re-establish [his] Republican credentials.” Lhota also picked up a giant can of creamed spinach and admitted, “I love Peter Luger,” defeating the entire point of this election-year exercise.
