While the city is opting for free self-defense classes and public forums to address the disturbing hate-crime wave, adults dressed as superheroes are doing the vigilante thing, DNAinfo reports. “We care about everyone, from every walk of life, and we want to keep everybody safe. Our focus now is the Village,” said Chris Pollack, a.k.a. Dark Guardian, of the New York Initiative, which is not the nation’s only real-life superhero group. For now, the Initiative only plans to patrol three nights a week, but they are taking volunteers, if that’s your thing.
