Vito Lopez never faced criminal charges for the sexual harassment and groping that cost him his job as a New York State assemblyman. But he will get a fine. And at $330,000, it’s the biggest ever issued by the Legislative Ethics Commission, the New York Times reports. Lopez can pay up using his campaign funds, though, so while the fine won’t hurt his personal finances, it should at least make it harder for him to run for City Council, as he’s threatened.
Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan, who has done a wonderful job, has decided not to go forward with his confirmation process so that he can devote more time to his family….
I thank Pat for his outstanding service and will be naming Secretary of the Army, Mark Esper, to be the new Acting Secretary of Defense. I know Mark, and have no doubt he will do a fantastic job!
