The New York Times may have a crush on Bill de Blasio, but the Christine Quinn is the first mayoral candidate to pick up a paper’s official endorsement. While candidates have tried to highlight where they’d break with the current administration, the Daily News says it’s backing Quinn because she’s most likely to continue the successes of the Bloomberg era. “The News endorses Quinn because she combines the clearest understanding of the difficulties facing the city with the most extensive record of getting things done,” says the editorial. “Her proposals for the working and middle classes could actually come to fruition, as opposed to the many pie-in-the-sky pronouncements of her competitors.” The Daily News was only choosing among Democratic candidates, but this does not bode well for Catsimatidis and his monorail.
“May God ruin him.”
