F-16s Stayed Busy Over Manhattan, Shooing Planes Away From U.N.

With restricted airspace extending eight miles out from JFK, it’s amazing more pilots didn’t find themselves traversing closed airspace on Monday as the United Nations General Assembly met. But at least three did, and had their flights cut short as F-16s escorted them to local airports. So if you were wondering what all the racket was during the afternoon, it was probably that.
