Woman Caught With Loaded Gun at 9/11 Memorial

NEW YORK, NY - MAY 30: The 9/11 Memorial is viewed during a ceremony for recovery workers and first responders on the10-year anniversary of the formal end of cleanup operations at Ground Zero on May 30, 2012 in New York City. Thousands of men and women came to Ground Zero following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to help with the recovery effort. Numerous first responders, including police and fire fighters, have subsequently been plagued with health issues many believe are related to the air they breathed in the weeks and months following the attacks. The nine-month recovery effort at the site ended May 30, 2002. (Photo by Spencer Platt/Getty Images)

Police charged Ursula Jerry of Milwaukee with criminal possession of a weapon on Sunday after a security guard at the 9/11 Memorial spotted a loaded .380-cal semiautomatic pistol in her purse. While the location, and the fact that the 41-year-old doesn’t have a permit for the gun in any state, is unnerving, it actually shows the memorial is pretty secure – unlike a certain transportation system. “I travel with this from home on Amtrak to New York City,” Jerry told officers during her arrest. “I don’t mean harm to anyone.”
