Politico Executive Editor Jim VandeHei Now the Company’s CEO

Politico executive editor Jim VandeHei, who just recently took on the extra responsibility of running the newly obtained Capital New York, is getting a promotion to president and CEO, overseeing the business side of both operations. Former CEO Fred Ryan stepped down after owner Robert Allbritton sold seven television stations. It’s unusual for someone in editorial to cross over to the business side at such a high level, but Allbritton said VandeHei “has grown into a strategic business thinker who just happens to have journalistic instincts.”
