One Year After Hurricane Sandy, Meet the Families That Are Still Homeless

In the weeks following Hurricane Sandy, food drives, benefit concerts, and volunteer cleanups made it all but impossible to forget the impact of the storm. As the weeks became months, the lights turned back on, businesses reopened, and, for most of us, life got back to normal. But for some, the nightmare of the storm has yet to abate. According to aid groups, at least 22,000 households are still displaced. Some are staying with friends and family; others have been put up in hotels, their stays funded by a combination of FEMA money and nonprofit groups. Here are eight of their stories.
