The plan to make New York realtors hide the cigarettes didn’t work out the way Mayor Bloomberg had hoped, as the City Council took the requirement out of an anti-tobacco bill he floated earlier this year. But on Tuesday it added a stipulation that would make the crackdown even more expansive: The latest version of the bill raises the age to buy not just cigarettes but e-cigarettes as well, to 21 from 18.
