According to the glorious trickle of political gossip coming from Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s forthcoming Double Down: Game Change 2012, it’s still complicated between the president and his predecessor.

Obama on Clinton, with a grimace, after a round of golf in which the two did not complete eighteen holes: “I like him … in doses.”

Clinton on Obama, repeatedly: “He’s luckier than a dog with two dicks.”

However! Obama on Clinton, after beating Mitt Romney, thanks in part to his “silver-tongued surrogate”: “Get Bill on the phone.”

Coming soon: A buddy comedy.
