Convicted “psychic” scammer Sylvia Mitchell, who duped her marks out of money she said they needed to part with to cleanse their souls, does not actually have mystical foresight. But she sure has some frustrated hindsight, after refusing an earlier plea deal that would have involved zero jail time. On Thursday, a judge sentenced Mitchell to five to fifteen years in prison, more than the three to nine prosecutors had sought. Testimony from Mitchell’s victims couldn’t have helped. One of them wrote that at a wedding rehearsal dinner, “one of the guests stared at me at great length and put an ‘L’ for loser on her face while looking at me.”
