Young New Yorkers Don’t Have Dante de Blasio’s Back

The honeymoon is over for Dante de Blasio. The mayor-elect’s 16-year-old son is lobbying to stay in his family’s Park Slope home, just a ten-minute drive from his high school, and the New York Times isn’t helping his case. The paper interviewed several students in New York City’s elite public schools, and each said Dante should suck it up, as it takes them an hour or longer to get to school via public transportation. “Come on, it’s the mayor’s mansion!” said Alex Gaviria, who attends Brooklyn Tech along with De Blasio. “Why would you want to pass that up?” For a 14-year-old boy, Gaviria is surprisingly psyched about Gracie Mansion. Maybe he’d like to take Dante’s room?
